Christmas present crafts

Homemade Christmas crafts are a great gift idea.

This year’s Christmas present craft selection can be easier than you ever imagined. With a few simple purchases, you can have your entire Christmas craft list covered — and no, you won’t be giving everyone the same thing!

Your Shopping List

Pick up these craft items, and you’ll be in good shape to start crafting:

  • Essential oils in lemon, peppermint, cinnamon, and lavender
  • Cobalt blue or amber spray bottles
  • Pretty containers (jars, bowls, etc.)
  • A bulk package of Epsom salts
  • Olive oil
  • Sweet almond oil
  • Basic kitchen ingredients (flour, salt, sugar, etc.)
  • Blank stick on labels

The Crafts

So now that you’ve stockpiled those supplies, what are you going to do with them? Make Christmas craft presents, of course. And there are plenty of fun, simple crafts you’ll be able to make.

1. Scented Room Spray

This is a really simple craft that makes a professional quality spray. Simply fill a spray bottle almost to the top with distilled water and add a few drops of essential oils (you can combine any you want to create your own scent, but limit it to no more than 20 drops — with pure essential oils, a little goes a long way).

Either decorate a label with crayons and waterproof markers or create one on the computer and print it onto a sticky label. Stick it on the bottle and you have crafty gifts to go.

2. Scent Rocks

Sick of potpourri? Make scent rocks instead. Mix half a cup of flour and half a cup of salt. Add no more than 1/4 teaspoon essential oils. Bring 2/3 cup of water to a boil and add a few drops of food coloring if desired. Stir the boiling water into the flour mixture. Form balls from the mixture and set them aside to dry. Now you have scented balls to display in a pretty bowl.

3. Scented Body Scrub

Mix 3 cups of Epsom salts, 3/4 cup olive oil, 3/4 cup sweet almond oil, and no more than 1 tsp essential oil of your choice. Blend them together to make a wonderful smelling exfoliating scrub, then package it in a pretty jar and tie with a bow. Print or decorate a label directing the recipient to scrub their body, then rinse.

4. Scented Massage Oil

Fill a jar or bottle nearly full with a combination of olive oil and sweet almond oil (about half and half). Add no more than 1 tsp of any essential oils and shake well to mix, then make upĀ  your own labels. Lavender is a good massage oil because it has calming properties, while cinnamon is a more romantic scent.

It shouldn’t be more expensive to make Christmas craft presents than to buy them, so stick with these basic ingredients and make any combination of these four gifts. Forget a single Christmas present craft — go with these combos.
